VIS 403 Rotating-Viscometer
The dynamic viscosity () is determined through measurement of the torque or the rotation speed of a rotor immersed in the molten mass.
The sample temperature is either lowered linearly or kept constant during this process.
In order for the measurement to take place, the molten mass needs to show Newtonian behaviour.
Since this is a comparison method, a flow field coefficient must be determined.
Materials with known viscosity behaviour are used for this purpose (e.g reference glasses SRM710, SRM711, SRM717 and DGG1).
